Training Summary

**We are not currently accepting new training clients.  We will update this page when we are able to support new training commitments.  Thanks for your understanding.**

Congratulations! By visiting Wag-n-Smile, you’ve just taken the first step towards becoming the best and happiest dog owner you can be.

Whether you’re thinking about getting a dog, just recently added a dog to the family, need support and guidance with a dog that you already have, or just because someone told you to “check us out”, we’re here to help. We are focused on giving you the tools you need to establish and maintain a happy and healthy relationship with your canine kid.

We use positive training. Our goal is to help you and your canine kid learn to communicate effectively with each other. It is the nature of “man’s best friend” to want to please you; it’s the way they are wired. Training should be fun and rewarding for both of you. All too often, owners struggle with their canine kids. Proper training can make a world of difference in the owner-canine relationship which, without professional training, can sometimes be quite trying. With the help of a good trainer and some very simple solutions, you and your dog will better understand each other.  The result is a future chock full of wags and smiles!

Our positive training methods include positive reinforcement, positive associations, bonding and leadership exercises, and fun games. When you reward your dog for doing the right thing, they are more likely to repeat that behavior. Positive training methods have proven to be more effective and lasting than alternative methods. And, this makes sense … for which of the following types of boss would you willingly do your best work: (1) a boss who respects and praises you, or (2) a boss who reprimands you and criticizes your work? Boss #1, right? Not only would you more willingly do your best work but you would also be happier; and, the better your work the happier your boss will be … thus the positive feedback circle is established. Another side effect of positive based training, is that it can lead to a more emotionally stable dog; where as, a dog that is more forcefully trained, can be more anxious and stressed. Positive training is a positive experience for both of you, dog and owner. With better understanding you and your dog become a team, cooperating with each other.
